SkyPower commences construction of solar power plants in Kenya

 Construction of solar power planta in Kenya will soon commence after an agreement was signed by SkyPower that will see the development of 1GW  in four phases over the next five years.

The SkyPower president and CEO, Kerry Adlr said that Kenya has become an African hub for modernization and entrepreneurship. This fact saw SkyPower sign a $2.2bn investment for Kenya to develop the project.
It was announced on the sidelines of the sixth annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit(GES) in Nairobi where the contract was signed.
The construction of solar power plants in Kenya will enable the country to realize its electrification goals, hold up the growth of the country’s renewable energy industry and help the development of strong communities, generating for a brighter future for all.
The cabinet secretary of the Kenyan Ministry of Energy and Petroleum Henry Rotich said that they are very delighted to work with a world-leading solar energy company like SkyPower. The cabinet secretary of the Kenyan Ministry of Energy and Petroleum also added that sustainable electrification is a central policy issue in Kenya, and we are devoted to make this a reality for our citizens, while accelerating economic growth in the process.
 
The executive vice-president of Sky Power Company, Charles Cohen said that the construction of solar power plants in Kenya will create minimum 25,000 total job  in the country and includes 200mw of electricity production and assembly facilities, as well as a commitment of US$173m in the direction of training, explore development.
